I HOPE YOU ALL had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a successful Black Friday and/or Shop Local Saturday and now a delightful Cyber Monday.
I did absolutely no shopping. I'm not a fan of such things, to tell you the truth. It's not that I hate shopping, per se. I just have a bazillion other things to keep me occupied. I usually start thinking about Christmas 3 or 4 days before it arrives.
Last Friday was my birthday. When I got home Wednesday afternoon, there was a box from my beloved sister, Laura. She sent me two pink Amaryllis bulbs and a bunch of paperwhite Narcissus. Nice, huh?

Also included in the gift box from my sister was a cool piece of driftwood she recently scavenged from one of our childhood haunts. It means the world to me that she was so thoughtful. Our paternal grandmother was an avid gardener and often collected driftwood to embellish her garden. In this case, the apples haven't fallen far from the tree. Both of my sisters and I are avid gardeners just as she was. Thank you Laura!
There are very few blooms in my garden these days. Earlier today I braved the elements to gather the last remaining honeysuckle flowers. There were also a few dangling hardy fuchsia blossoms and a surprise 'Cinco de Mayo' rose just opening up so I picked them too. We haven't had a frost yet, which isn't all that uncommon. Maybe we'll get lucky and have a frost-free winter.
